Why You’ll Love This Recipe
All you need are 3 simple ingredients for this refreshing tequila cocktail! Perfect for Cinco de Mayo, summer celebrations, or impromptu gatherings.
It’s Cocktail Friday! And today we’re celebrating citrus and the simple things in life with these easy 3-ingredient Palomas cocktail! I make two different versions of this drink – one made for a crowd (coming soon) and one that can be made ultra fast. Like for those occasions when friends pop by for a quick visit. With just 3 ingredients, this is the kind of drink you can make on the fly with no planning. I like to keep some mixers on hand and almost always have a lime or two sitting in my fruit bowl. Cheers!

Ingredients and Substitutions
Here’s what you’ll need to recreate these Easy 3-Ingredient Palomas:
- Tequila – Use whatever silver/blanco tequila you like! Pictured here is Patron Silver, but I’ve heard great things about Lalo, a brand that’s owned and produced locally in Jalisco.
- Lime juice – Fresh is best!
- Grapefruit soda – Arguably the most important ingredient in this cocktail! See my notes below on what to look for.

Grapefruit Soda
There are lots of grapefruit soda brands on the market. You need something with plenty of grapefruit flavor, fizz, and sweetness.
- Jarritos – A Mexican brand sweetened with cane sugar, it pairs perfectly with tequila but can be a hard flavor to find. Look for it where you’d find Topo Chico or Mexican Coca-Cola in stores.
- Italian grapefruit soda – Doesn’t have quite the same “zing” as Jarritos, but there are several brands out there that are easy to find in American grocery stores. Often you’ll find it in tall (~25 fl oz) glass bottles or skinny cans, like this San Pellegrino or this one from Whole Foods.
I know that Fever Tree is pictured in the photos, but I actually don’t recommend it for this recipe because it has no sweetness. That said, it will work if you also add about 1/2-3/4 oz of simple syrup per drink.
