I’m continuing on my mission to build up the PBF library of sauces today with this Honey Dijon Sauce! This is a really simple dressing that’s made with 3 main ingredients – dijon mustard, honey, and light mayo, which makes it super creamy and dreamy. Throw in a little lemon juice, paprika, and salt and you’ve got yourself a winner!
I first debuted this sauce last fall with my Honey Dijon Harvest Bowl recipe, where I used this as both a marinade and a dressing. Today, it’s earning a blog post of its own so you can mix and match it with any dish or salad. Plus, you know it’s perfect for meal prep to help spruce up your chicken and veggies.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Here’s what you’ll need to make this Honey Dijon Sauce at home:
- Dijon mustard – Bring the bright tangy flavors to this sauce with Dijon mustard. I don’t recommend substituting this one out.
- Honey – Honey gives this sauce an earthy sweetness and because it’s nice and thick, it doesn’t make the sauce overly runny like maple syrup might.
- Mayonnaise – I opted for Duke’s light mayo for mine to make this sauce more macro-friendly while still getting great flavor and a rich, creamy texture.
- Lemon juice – I call for only 1 tsp of lemon juice in this recipe, but I think the difference is noticeable. It just adds a touch of freshness to the sauce. You can skip it if you want, or opt for apple cider vinegar instead.
- Smoked paprika – An optional ingredient, but one that I think brings an awesome depth of flavor to the sauce.
- Salt – Make all the flavors pop with a little salt.
