Chick-fil-A sauce is pretty much a cult classic that people obsess over! It’s a cross between a smoky barbecue sauce and a creamy honey mustard sauce and is an absolutely delicious dip for chicken. My Copycat Chick-fil-A Sauce recipe is easy to whip up at home in about 5 minutes with a bunch of ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Of course you can always buy the bottled stuff right from Chick-fil-A, but (a) where’s the fun in that?; and (b) my version has less than half the calories! So if you’re on the hunt for a more macro-friendly version of this liquid gold, I’ve got you covered.

Ingredients and Substitutions
Here’s what you’ll need to recreate this Chick-fil-A sauce at home:
- Mayo – I opted for Duke’s light mayo for mine to make this sauce more macro-friendly while still getting great flavor and a rich, creamy texture.
- BBQ sauce – This is kind of the “x” factor in getting this sauce close to the flavor of the original. I went with a barbecue sauce that leans sweet and isn’t too smokey and was really happy with the results. If you use a different barbecue sauce, you may need to adjust the other ingredients to get the flavor balance right.
- Honey – Even though the barbecue sauce brings some sweetness, you still need a little bump of extra sweetness from honey. Light brown sugar would likely work here as well but may change the color of the sauce. I don’t recommend maple syrup since it’s more runny than honey.
- Dijon and yellow mustard – Yes, we’re using 2 kinds of mustard here. Yellow mustard brings a really sharp flavor that shines through the heavier ingredients, whereas the dijon brings an almost umami flavor that blends into the background but enhances the flavor of the sauce in ways you didn’t know it needed.
- Apple cider vinegar – Although the yellow mustard brings acidity, you need a bit more than you can afford to add without bringing too much mustard to the party. ACV is a gentler vinegar than straight white vinegar. Lemon juice would likely work in its place if you don’t have any.
- Spices – I used salt, smoked paprika, and garlic powder to get the flavor just right.
