Gear up for game day this weekend with this Higher Protein Fried Pickle Dip. By now you’ve probably seen this viral internet sensation of a dip and let me tell you, it’s totally worth the hype! It’s ridiculously simple and easy to whip up for a crowd, but packs a ton of flavor. I made mine a little more macro friendly with the addition of some blended cottage cheese and subbed out the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt – don’t worry, your guests (and tastebuds) will never know. Check out my video below to see how it’s done.

Ingredients and Substitutions
Here’s what you’ll need to make this Higher Protein Fried Pickle Dip at home:
- Cottage cheese – I opted for fat free for the best macros, but you could use full fat for a richer dip.
- Sour cream – Same as the cottage cheese, I went with a fat free sour cream. You could sub with plain Greek yogurt if you really want to, but I prefer the flavor of sour cream here.
- Cream cheese – To avoid waiting for the cream cheese to get to room temp, I recommend a whipped cream cheese since it’s easier to work with for a super smooth and creamy dip.
- Dill pickles – Use whatever dill pickles you like best. I think the spears are easiest to chop up.
- Ranch seasoning – I love the packets of Hidden Valley ranch seasoning – they’re key to nailing the flavor of this dip!
- Breadcrumbs – Go for seasoned panko breadcrumbs for the best crunch and flavor.
- Butter – You could use oil for toasting the breadcrumbs if you prefer, but I think they taste better with butter.
- Dill – fresh is best!
- Spices – Onion powder and black pepper
