This Copycat Chipotle Guacamole is ridiculously easy to make at home and you can pile on as much as you like! Don’t worry, no one is going to charge you extra š This guac recipe actually isn’t a secret – Chipotle has posted it online before on both IG live and the artist formerly known as Twitter. What makes it taste so good? Just 6 simple, quality ingredients!
Aside from using good ingredients in the right proportions, nailing this copycat is all about texture. Chipotle never leaves big chunks of avocados in their guac, and the other ingredients (hi, red onion!) are chopped finely enough to not get in the way of a perfect flavor meld. So whether you’re piling it high on top of your own burrito bowl or serving it up for game day with crispy tortilla chips, this guac recipe is a keeper!

Ingredients and Substitutions
Here’s what you’ll need to recreate this Copycat Chipotle Guacamole at home:
- Avocados – Use really ripe avocados that are soft to the touch but not beginning to brown inside.
- Red onion – Be sure to dice the red onion really finely to evenly distribute the flavor and avoid any overly onion-y bites!
- JalapeƱo – Use a very small jalapeƱo to get as close as you can to the real recipe, which calls for 1/2 a jalapeƱo per 2 avocados.
- Cilantro – I hope you don’t think it tastes like soap, because it’s critical to nailing the flavor of this guac.
- Lime juice – Here’s where I break slightly compared to the authentic recipe. I used about double the lime juice compared to what the Chipotle recipe calls for – they only use 2 tsp per 2 avocados. You can always start low where their recipe is (1 tbsp for 3 avocados) and add more to your taste.
- Salt – The Chipotle recipe calls for kosher salt, but I opted for sea salt and used just a bit more to make the flavor pop. Adjust this to your own taste.
