Welcome to the unofficial end of summer! Hopefully you all get to enjoy some safe relaxation this weekend with a (small) group of friends or family. A big batch wine cocktail is just what you’ll need – so give this Peach Wine Spritzer a try! Peaches are still going strong in the markets down here in Texas, so make the most of them while you still can. Don’t worry though, you won’t need to juice any peaches to make this drank…just some good ole peach nectar will do. And if you can’t find peach nectar in your local grocery store, peach juice will do in a pinch. I like the nectar better here because I think the peach flavor is richer (usually nectars include both pureed fruit and fruit juice).
Look for a bottle of semi-dry white wine that has notes of peach or melon to complement the peach nectar. Something like this Sauvignon Blanc, this Pinot Gris, this blend, or this blend. Avoid the super acidic Sauvignon Blancs or bone dry white wines. Check out this chart for some helpful guidance on what white wines fall where on the dryness scale.
Have you ever frozen fruit into your ice cubes? This is a great place to give it a try. Or you can even freeze the fruit itself to use as ice cubes – then your drink will stay cold and won’t get watered down at all! Cheers!
