- 1 cup water (8 fl oz)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams)
- 1/4 cup culinary lavender
- Optional: violet gel food coloring or liquid food coloring
Add water and sugar to a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved and remove from heat.
Add culinary lavender to the syrup and stir to ensure all lavender is in the syrup. Steep for 10 minutes, then strain the lavender out using a fine mesh strainer.
Optional: For more intense purple color, whisk in a small amount of violet food coloring.
Storage: Store leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. A container with minimal surface area for the syrup to reach air, like a tall bottle, will keep it fresh the longest.
Straining: For best results, strain your syrup through a cheesecloth to avoid any floating debris in the final product.
